Luke Williams | A draw is a fair result

Luke Williams praised his players’ defensive efforts to secure a point in the goalless draw with Stoke City at Swansea.com Stadium.

Swansea completed a three-game week before the international break while extending their unbeaten run on home soil in the league against the Potters.

The hosts had the better chances throughout the 90 minutes, with Jisung Eom, Ronald and Žan Vipotnik all coming closest.

And the head coach felt it was a deserved result to share in the spoils.

“I think it’s fair. I think we were worthy of a win, but in football you get what you deserve and I don’t think we deserved more in the end,” Williams said.

“We missed big opportunities and that’s how you get punished in football.”

“I think the players need to believe that it is their turn to be in the spotlight and achieve glory. If you don’t believe it, you have to find ways to grab the ball or not get it over the line.”

“The overall performance was very good, I was happy with almost everything except that I didn’t put the ball into the net.”

“Lawrence Vigouroux was incredible again, the two center backs, I think they should start giving goals to the defenders when they block and do heroic actions.”

“We have to thank the fans for helping us achieve our unbeaten home run because they give the energy and keep singing and bring the intensity,” he added.
