Villa’s Jordan Nobbs breaks WSL appearance record in Brighton game 👏

Aston Villa and England Women’s star Jordan Nobbs made a piece of history in her side’s clash against Brighton on Saturday afternoon.

The game is her 193rd in the Women’s Super League, breaking the competition’s record.

The 31-year-old played most of her WSL games with Arsenal, who she left last year to join Villa, and has now overtaken Sophie Ingle in the all-time rankings.

Ingle made more appearances before the start of the season, making 192 appearances, but is likely to miss the entire 2024/25 season due to a cruciate ligament injury, meaning Nobbs is likely to come away without success in the coming months.

Mary Earps is in third place with 188 but is now plying her trade in the French league with PSG.

Of the currently fit and active WSL players, Chelsea captain Millie Bright and Man City star Laura Coombs are closest to Nobbs with 184 appearances each.

The record is just the latest accolade in a stunning career for Nobbs, who has won three WSL titles as well as several individual awards and 71 caps for England.
