🚀 Fede Valverde sets a new La Liga record with a goal for Real Madrid

Real Madrid’s often unsung hero made his presence felt against Villarreal when Federico Valverde opened the scoring from distance.

With the game tied 0-0 after 20 minutes, the Uruguayan midfielder shot forward from distance and gave Carlo Ancelotti’s team the lead with a clever deflection from an unfortunate Yellow Submarine player.

In doing so, he distinguished himself as an experienced goalscorer, with Opta revealing that since the start of 2022, no player in La Liga has scored more goals outside the penalty area than the Real Madrid midfielder, and his strike took him past Jago Aspas and Antoine Griezmann, who both managed seven.

With his shot from distance still the difference between the two teams at half-time, Valverde will be hoping he and his side can bounce back after failing to win either of their last two games.
