Bavaria: Car standing on a car trailer in Traunstein is completely on fire

TRAUNSTEIN (BAVARIA): On Saturday morning, October 5, 2024, the Haslach and Vachendorf volunteer fire departments (city of Traunstein) were alerted at 5:56 a.m. by the Traunstein Integrated Control Center to a car mark on Lambergstrasse. Firelight and smoke were clearly visible during the journey. Although the emergency services managed to protect the immediately adjacent buildings and a parked truck from the flames, the car loaded on a trailer burned out completely.

When the Haslach fire engine arrived, it was immediately confirmed that a car parked on a trailer was fully on fire. In order to protect the adjacent wood processing company and residential building, a barrier to the building was initially set up. At the same time, direct fire fighting was started with heavy breathing protection. Meanwhile, the second team of Haslach fire engines took care of the water supply and set up a line to a nearby hydrant.

The Vachendorf fire department’s emergency services took care of securing and shielding a parked truck that was parked next to the burning car. Within 15 minutes, the fire was under control and extinguished to the point where it no longer posed any danger. The post-extinguishing work and the cooling measures for the hot metal parts took around one and a half hours before the operation could be completed.

The exact cause of the fire initially remained unclear. The Traunstein police have now taken over the investigation of the cause. According to the fire department, the vehicle was a total loss and the trailer was also badly damaged. There was likely to be material damage amounting to a mid-four-digit amount. Nobody was injured.
