Trend from Dubai – This chocolate is currently going viral – Society

Bochum (dpa) – A trendy chocolate from Dubai is currently going viral on social media. The bars are filled with pistachio cream and crispy dough strands. A Dubai chocolate costs around 15 euros. The viral hit is sold primarily online, but has also made it into supermarkets individually. Videos with recipes and taste tests are viewed millions of times.

“If you like the chocolate but don’t want to pay so much money for it, you could easily make it yourself,” explained a spokeswoman for the Berlin Consumer Center. “This can be done at home with just a few ingredients.”

There are countless instructions circulating on the Internet with millions of views. The list of ingredients is relatively short. In addition to milk chocolate, you need pistachio cream, sesame nut (tahini) and kadayif threads made from dough, which you also find in the Turkish pastry baklava, as food blogger Kiki Aiweimer from Bochum explained. Fine milk chocolate was melted and shaped. According to the instructions, the angel hair, as Kadayif threads are also called, is cut into small pieces and roasted in butter in a pan. Then add pistachio cream and tahini. The chocolate is just filled with it and goes into the fridge.

On the trail of the hype

The chocolate originally comes from the Fix Dessert Chocolatier company, which has been selling it in Dubai since 2021. In Dubai the chocolate costs the equivalent of around 16.60 euros.

“The ingredient for which the manufacturer would have to dig particularly deep into his pockets is the pistachio cream,” said the spokeswoman for the consumer advice center. “Consumers should take a close look at how much pistachio there really is in the product.”
