Novak Djokovic has a positive record against almost all players from all nations. But he particularly enjoys US opponents. And that’s been going on for almost a decade.

Novak Djokovic has now celebrated against American opponents 33 times in a row

No, Novak Djokovic has not yet shown his best side at the start of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Shanghai. He quickly fell behind 1:4 in the first round against Alex Michelsen and also had to fend off a set point from the American in the tiebreak of the second act. But that’s how it is: If a representative from the USA is on the other side of the net, then you can bet three euros and fifty on a victory for Novak Djokovic.

The last defeat against an American took place in 2016. Sam Querrey, now the longest tennis player, managed to beat Djokovic at Wimbledon, who was struggling with an unmistakable drop in tension after his first triumph at Roland-Garros.

Djokovic on course for Tiafoe

Djoker’s vest is now pure white. There are now 33 wins in a row, across all competitions (also including team events). Novak Djokovic played particularly badly with Taylor Fritz. The record against them is 9-0.

There could soon be the next opportunity to expand the series in Shanghai: If the paper goes by, then Frances Tiafoe should be waiting in the round of 16. His head-to-head against Djokovic is not quite as depressing as Fritz’s: the Olympic champion in Paris only leads 2-0 against “Big Foe”.
