Dick Strawbridge reveals the ongoing debate with Mrs. Angel over an aspect of her castle

TV couple Dick and Angel Strawbridge rose to fame on the show Escape to the Chateau, but there’s one thing the TV personalities argue about “regularly.”

Dick Strawbridge has admitted that he and his wife Angel don’t always agree when it comes to the size of their castle. The couple, who rose to fame on Channel 4’s hit series Escape to the Chateau, have been renovating their French chateau for almost a decade but can’t agree on one simple detail – the number of rooms it contains.

Speaking to the Sunday Telegraph, Dick revealed: “We argue regularly about, 50? It depends on your definition of a space.”

The Strawbridges live with their two children in the stunning Château de la Motte-Husson in Martigné-sur-Mayenne, France. Dick, 65, also shared what drew her to her magnificent property: “To be fair, we had been trying to find a castle for five years and when this came on the market everything on our checklist was here: orangery, walled gardens, towers and land (12 acres).”

He further revealed: “The only thing there wasn’t was a winter garden, so we built one in 2022.”

The couple, who married in 2015 – the same year they purchased the castle – may have a huge 30-acre estate, but Dick amusingly insists that their house is “not big,” a remark that he himself sees as “a stupid thing to say,” reports the Express.

He continued: “Our castle is not big – a silly statement when you look at an average house. When you see how it works, it’s not a small house by any means, but all the rooms are in the right places.”

“You go upstairs to the entrance hall; on one side there is a dining room, a small kitchen, cloakroom, children’s playroom, all in great places.

“The shoe room downstairs (is my favorite room) is country boy. Everyone brings their things into the house through him and takes off wet coats and rubber boots.”

“There are fishing rods and gun racks. It is the most used room in the house. I also have two workshops, three kitchens, all special places for me.”
