Woman killed, 10 injured in suspected terrorist attack in southern Israel

A 25-year-old woman has been killed and 10 others injured in a shooting at the central bus station in Beersheba, southern Israel, local authorities confirmed.

The suspected shooter was shot dead at the scene by police in what they classified as a “suspected terrorist attack.”

Footage circulating online appeared to show several victims at a nearby McDonald’s.

Israeli emergency services reported that ten people were being treated for injuries, including gunshot wounds.

One woman is in “moderate to serious” condition, while four others are reported to be in “moderate” condition. All were taken to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba for treatment.

In response to the attack, Israeli Transport Minister Miri Regev called for stricter measures, including the deportation of the terrorists’ families.

“The time has come for a deterrent punishment to prevent attacks on Israeli territory,” Regev wrote on X.

This incident came less than a week after seven people died in a shooting and stabbing attack in Tel Aviv.

Israeli authorities said they were on high alert as the first anniversary of Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on southern Israel approaches, marking the start of the ongoing Gaza conflict.
