Authorities are responding to an overnight shooting at the Orangeburg County Fair

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) – The Orangeburg County Fair Association released a statement regarding a shooting at the fairgrounds Saturday evening.

District market officials said the shooting occurred after they decided to close the fair early last night after what the association said were “several incidents of disorderly behavior by youth groups.”

While the fair was closing, multiple law enforcement agencies responded to shots fired in the parking lot and arrested a suspect.

According to authorities, one person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The fair will be held during normal hours today while the shooting remains under investigation.
