1 dead, 1 seriously injured after alleged altercation at party in Lee County, sheriff confirms

BEAUREGARD, Ala. (WTVM) – Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones has confirmed that one person has died and another person is in critical condition following an alleged altercation at a party.

Officials said they received a call about a shooting near 11 Lee Road in Beauregard on Saturday, October 5, at approximately 9:23 p.m. CST. They tell us that there was a party going on in an apartment building when an argument broke out between two men and a shooting ensued.

A large number of people left the scene when officers arrived to investigate. LCSO recovered a weapon at the scene and believed it to be a weapon used in the shooting.

As a result of the incident, 34-year-old Darrian Finley of Opelika was found at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds at 9:55 p.m. CT, according to the Lee County Coroner’s Office.

The other man injured in the shooting was flown to a local hospital in critical condition.

The Lee County Coroner’s Office transported Mr. Finley to ADFS Montgomery Medical Facility for an autopsy.
