Jordan Whittington quickly caught on with the Rams as a 6th round rookie

Jordan Whittington had a career game against Chicago in Week 4 as the rookie pass catcher from Texas had six receptions for 62 yards. Whittington has increased responsibility due to injuries in the wide receiver room and has been thrown into the fire and is doing well according to OC Mike LeFleur.

“I’ve said this before, but it’s just not too big for him,” LaFleur said Thursday. “He played in big games. He’s getting more used to the NFL, the speed and only playing on Sundays. He had a good day yesterday too. We give him a little bit more every week in terms of the running game, the passing game and the formation and he’s doing well. He is a professional. He’s going to stay in this league for a long time.”

LaFleur was impressed with Whittington’s preseason and saw his role expand each week. Since Whittington had zero targets in Week 1, his targets have increased by two, three and now eight in the following weeks.

As a star player, Whittington played for the Texas Longhorns, who won the Big 12 championship last season and earned a spot in the College Football Playoff.
