Ministry of Justice calls for volunteer judges

Ministry of Justice calls for volunteer judges

Judges play a very important role in their local area and must be recruited across criminal and family courts to ensure they represent the community they serve.

The position of judge is a flexible, part-time, voluntary position that can be combined with other commitments, including full-time employment.

The position does not require any qualifications, legal knowledge or experience.

The characteristics of a judge that are valued are open-mindedness, rational thinking and the willingness to work as a team.

Interested people between the ages of 18 and 74 who can commit to at least 13 days a year for at least five years are warmly invited to register their interest.

Rushda, senior product manager in education and skills, has been a judge for eight years.

She said: “I am really proud to be a judge and to make a significant contribution to the justice system.

“It is a role that allows me to make a real difference in my community and give something back. I personally appreciated working with judges from all walks of life to achieve a common goal.”
