Emergency crews respond to a report of a small plane crashing into Eagle Mountain Lake

Officials said emergency crews were called to Eagle Mountain Lake Monday afternoon after a small plane crashed into the water there.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the single-engine Champion 7EC crashed into Eagle Mountain Lake around 12:40 p.m. The agency did not initially know how many people were on board the plane.

Live video from the scene showed parts of the small plane, what appeared to be the wing tips, sticking out of the murky water as a rescue boat navigated across the lake.

According to the Fort Worth Fire Department’s incident report, crews were called around 12:40 p.m. to a report of a drowning accident at 11000 Lakeside Drive. However, the report does not indicate whether anyone on board the plane made an emergency call before the crash.

A Fort Worth Fire spokesman said the department was on scene with a dive team.

In a social media post, the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office said it was assisting Tarrant Regional Water District crews with the response on the north central side of Eagle Mountain Lake.
