LIVE: Gachagua impeachment debate

The National Assembly is currently holding sessions to debate the motion to impeach DP Rigathi Gachagua.

Last week, Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse formally tabled his impeachment motion in Parliament.

Later, DP Gachagua is expected to defend himself.

Mutuse made at least eleven allegations against Gachagua, including corruption, constitutional violations and bullying.

In his response on Monday, the vice president denied all allegations.

The process begins with the presentation of the public engagement report conducted in connection with the impeachment, in which Kenyans presented their views on all 11 allegations against Gachagua.

The applicant, Mutuse Mwengi, will then be given the opportunity to submit the application.

According to the order paper from the National Assembly on Tuesday, he will have at least an hour to do this.
