Speaking on Tuesday, October 8, Wetang’ula noted that he was aware that Vice President Rigathi Gachagua had conducted a media interview in which he presented his defense against the impeachment motion.

Wetang’ula argued that Gachagua should have shown restraint and refrained from conducting the press interview.

“Dear MPs, as we begin the hearing today, I would like to say that I am aware that the Deputy President conducted an interview with the local press yesterday. The Rules of Procedure prohibit Members of this House from anticipating debate on a motion that has already been announced. “The Rules of Procedure extend, in the broadest sense, to non-members,” Wetang’ula said.
