Doda election result LIVE: In a major surprise, AAP opens account in J&K, grabs Doda seat | India News

Doda Assembly Election Result: Jammu and Kashmir is set to get a chief minister after a decade as counting of votes takes place today after three-stage elections were held for the first time since 2014 and also for the first time after the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. The elections took place September 18th to October 1st.

1:30 pm: AAP opens account in J&K

In a big surprise, Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party has opened its account in J&K and secured the Doda Assembly seat. MEHRAJ MALIK defeated GAJAY SINGH RANA of BJP and KHALID NAJIB SUHARWARDY of JKNC.

The parliamentary elections for Doda constituency were held in the first phase on September 18, 2024. The main candidates from Doda constituency include Gajay Singh Rana (BJP), Shiekh Riyaz (INC) and Mehraj Malik (AAP).

8:00 am: Counting of votes begins in Doda

Counting of votes will begin in Doda seat.

As Jammu and Kashmir moves towards the crucial counting of votes, officials on Tuesday confirmed that all procedural formalities have been completed to ensure a smooth, fair and error-free counting process. The counting will begin at 8am in all 90 Assembly constituencies with security tightened in anticipation of victory celebrations by the victorious candidates and political parties.

Among the 90 parliamentary seats in Jammu and Kashmir, there are many seats that stand out due to their importance. Doda Assembly constituency is one of them.


The parliamentary elections for Doda constituency were held in the first phase on September 18, 2024. The main candidates from Doda constituency include Gajay Singh Rana (BJP), Shiekh Riyaz (INC) and Mehraj Malik (AAP).

In the 2014 elections, Shakti Raj of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) secured the Doda seat, defeating Abdul Majid Wani of the Congress (INC) by a margin of 4,040 votes.
