Not as bad as Concord, but not good either: Until Dawn Remake started weakly on Steam

Not as bad as Concord, but not good either: Until Dawn Remake started weakly on Steam

The remake of the horror adventure Until Dawn from Ballistic Moon and PlayStation, released last week, has so far met with little interest on the PC, at least on Steam.

With its current number of players, it is ahead of titles like Concord or Sackboy: A Big Adventure, but the gap is not huge.

Not interested or wrong time?

According to SteamDB, Until Dawn Remake’s current peak is 2,607 concurrent active users and was achieved last weekend.

For comparison: Concord and Sackboy: A Big Adventure had at their peak publication numbers of 697 and 610 simultaneously active users, respectively.

In addition, Until Dawn’s ratings have so far been “balanced”, with less than 70 percent also being positive. Among other things, the performance and optimization of the PC version as well as its price are criticized.

Sony sold the remake of Until Dawn for around 70 euros. However, it is not only available on Steam, but also in the Epic Games Store and on the PlayStation 5. However, there are no figures for the latter.

Is it perhaps a combination of little interest and a very high price? It should also be noted that horror fans can still buy Silent Hill 2 Remake as of today. Given this, you’ll probably think twice about which game you’re buying.

Numerous improvements in the Until Dawn Remake

The new edition of Until Dawn was developed from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5. There’s a remastered prologue and numerous improvements to graphics, presentation, gameplay and scope. On top of that, the end of the remake now seems to hint at a sequel.

The PC version also offers ray tracing support, which, according to reviews, does not work without problems, a variable frame rate and support for DLSS 3 and FSR 3.
