A fresh version is released every year in the fall, and Microsoft usually provides security-relevant updates for private users for two years. Conversely, this also means that you have to switch to a new version after two years at the latest. Im Rahmen des Patchdays the software giant from Redmond (US state of Washington) is distributing a security update for Windows 11 22H2 for the last time. After that, devices running this version will no longer receive monthly security and preview updates that provide protection against the latest security threats.
In einer Mitteilung auf seiner Website the manufacturer explains that Windows Update will automatically initiate a feature update for this version to ensure security and productivity. This means that Windows 11 computers that are still running an old system version will receive an update to the newer system version 23H2. The mentioned process affects PCs that are not managed by IT departments and is intended for the Home and Pro editions alike. You don’t have to consider any higher system requirements or anything similar. Windows 11 23H2 is now around a year old and is expected to receive regular security patches until November 11, 2025. Um herauszufinden, welche Windows-11-Version auf Ihrem Rechner installiert ist, gehen Sie so vor:

  • Drücken Sie auf der Tastatur die Windows-Taste.Type winver
  • Erscheint im neuen Fenster “Info über Windows” der Hinweis “Microsoft Windows Version 23H2” oder 24H2, you are on the safe side.

    Falls bei Ihnen eine veraltete Windows-Version läuft, steigen Sie so auf eine neuere Variante um:

  • Klicken Sie im Startmenü auf Einstellungen
  • Klicken Sie auf Windows Update
  • Klicken Sie gegebenenfalls auf Nach Updates suchen
  • Klicken Sie neben dem Hinweis auf eine neue Version etwa “Windows 11, Version 23H2” oder 24H2 auf Herunterladen & installieren
