The women of AS Roma won their opening game in the Champions League against Wolfsburg 1-0. Lyon wins clearly.

With Swiss international Alayah Pilgrim coming on as a substitute in the 78th minute, AS Roma secured a 1-0 win against Wolfsburg at the start of the Champions League group phase. The only goal of the game came early: Manuela Giugliano scored a penalty in the 14th minute. Eseosa Aigbogun was not used for the Italians.

Lyon doesn’t show any weakness

In the other game in Group A, the favorites from Lyon won 3-0 at home against Galatasaray Istanbul. The French national striker Kadidiatou Diani distinguished herself as a double goalscorer (34th/77th minute). In between, Vanessa Gilles scored 2-0 for last season’s CL finalists shortly before half-time.

Later in the evening, the teams from Group B also get into the action. Celtic Glasgow hosts Twente Enschede, Real Madrid visits Chelsea.
