Luxurious travel destinations despite a tight budget

The trend report from the travel portal Urlaubsguru shows that the five most popular destinations for package holidays in 2025 are Spain, Turkey, Egypt, Greece and Portugal.

When it comes to long-distance travel, Germans will be drawn to the sun in 2025: the most popular travel destinations are Thailand, the Maldives and the Dominican Republic.

The most popular city for a short trip is Barcelona in Spain.

“It’s exciting that luxurious travel destinations like the Maldives are enjoying so much popularity despite actually tighter travel budgets. This clearly shows that vacationers attach great importance to a high-quality, relaxing vacation and prefer to save for longer in order to fulfill their dream vacation,” says Daniel Krahn, co-founder and CEO of Urlaubsguru.

High expenses for holiday preparations

Germans are not popular when it comes to travel preparations in the week before their vacation: 41 percent of those surveyed spend 100 to 200 euros or even more while preparing for a trip.

Over half of those surveyed (56 percent) invested their money in the week before their vacation Shoppinga quarter has the highest spending on Care and cosmetic products or for one Hairdresser or beauty appointment. The healthy lifestyle is paused

A better love life on vacation

Vacation is also an investment in your own relationship. More than half of all respondents (60 percent) travel with their partner, and 47 percent of all respondents find their love life going better on vacation than at home. For most people in love (58 percent), the best mood is on the beach during a beautiful sunset.

Around 57 percent of all female respondents support their partner when packing their suitcase.

The perfect family vacation

83 percent of all families said in July of this year that they were planning a vacation for 2025.

“The fact that families in particular, who are usually tied to the holiday season, are so concerned with the topic of vacation can be worthwhile. The more inflexible you are, the earlier you should start planning your vacation in order to find the most suitable offer,” says Julia Denneng, PR manager at Urlaubsguru.

The Holiday Guru trend report shows that flexibility is a priority when it comes to family holidays: around 44 percent of families plan to travel by car, while the rest prefer to travel by plane, train or ship.

Going on vacation within Germany is particularly popular among families: 34 percent of those surveyed are planning one or more family vacations in Germany. The rest either plan vacations exclusively outside of Germany or inside and outside.

Nine percent plan No family vacation for 2025. Only two percent stated that they generally did not want to or could not travel.

Holidays with children: play areas and baby service
