MLS: New job for Berhalter

A good three months after his dismissal as US national coach, Gregg Berhalter has a new job. The 51-year-old takes over Chicago Fire. The Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise announced this on Tuesday. Berhalter replaced the previous coach Frank Klopas at Chicago and also takes over the position of football director, which was previously held by Georg Heitz. The Basel native is leaving the Illinois club for personal reasons and returning to Switzerland.

NFL: New coach for Aaron Rodgers

The New York Jets with star quarterback Aaron Rodgers have fired head coach Robert Saleh due to the unsatisfactory start to the season. Club owner Woody Johnson announced this on Tuesday. The team from the “Big Apple” suffered its third defeat in its fifth game on Sunday in London with a 17:23 defeat against the undefeated Minnesota Vikings. The previous defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich will take over the head position until the end of the season. Saleh has been the main coach of the Jets since 2021 and never made it into the playoffs with the team.
