With titanium and pre-installed maps: New smartwatch comes with titanium bezel and AMOLED

We have already reported several times here about the manufacturer Suunto, which is now expanding its range. Specifically, the Suunto Race S is now also available in two titanium color versions. The price is 449 euros, both versions are scheduled to go on sale on October 15th. The Suunto Race S without titanium is currently over 100 euros cheaper.

These are GPS smartwatches that place a great focus on sports functions. There are over 95 different sports modes available, and extensive measurements of sporting performance and recovery are carried out. The watches are made of stainless steel and come with a titanium bezel and the weight is stated as 55 grams. The 1.32-inch screen is protected by Gorilla Glass and has a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels; it is a touchscreen – but buttons are also available for reliable operation, for example with sweaty fingers.

Suunto uses an internal memory that is 32 gigabytes in size. Not only can countless training sessions be stored on this, but also offline maps – with these, navigation is possible completely independently of a paired smartphone and a mobile phone connection. The GNSS module with multi-band support should enable precise location, and the battery life should then be up to 30 hours. When used as a smartwatch, the Suunto Race S lasts up to 9 days according to the manufacturer.

It is possible to have sleep evaluated in terms of sleep duration and quality, and to display the stress level and recovery status – the measurement of heart rate variability is used for this. Replying to incoming notifications with canned replies is only possible with an Android smartphone. Regardless of the smartphone used, adaptive training instructions can also be displayed on the watch during your workout.
