Ruben Gallego leads Kari Lake by 10 points in the Arizona Senate race ahead of Wednesday’s debate

Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego of Arizona leads Republican Senate candidate Kari Lake by 10 points as of Monday, according to a Napolitan News Service poll released ahead of the candidates’ first and only debate Wednesday night.

The poll, conducted Sept. 30 to Oct. 2, found that 52% of respondents said they supported Gallego, while 42% said they would vote for Lake. Five percent said they were unsure which candidate they would vote for and one percent said they supported another candidate.

Gallego also had a higher approval rating than Lake, where 58% of respondents said they had an unfavorable view of the lake and 38% said they had a favorable view of the lake. Gallego had an equally favorable and unfavorable rating of 46% each.

The poll also found that 95% of Democratic voters supported Gallego, while only 81% of Republican voters said they supported Lake.

Gallego also did better than Lake among young voters (56% to 32%) and female voters (54% to 37%).

The poll comes as the duo prepare for their only debate before next month’s election. The debate is hosted by the bipartisan Clean Elections Commission.

The poll surveyed a total of 783 likely voters online and had a margin of error of plus and minus 3.5 percentage points.
