  • Cringed and Unhinged: Mean Girl Altmann and Cory Booker Attempt to Rally Young Voters with Decades Old Joke

Video of U.S. Sens. Cory Booker and Sue Altman of New Jersey saying "Get in, losers!" while chanting "We're taking back the House" is making waves, but not always for the right reasons.

Many viewers found the clip more embarrassing than convincing, comparing it to a clumsy attempt by adults to appear hip through quotes Mean Girlsa film that came out 20 years ago. The whole sentiment felt more like an embarrassing setback than a genuine call for political change.

“Ah yes, the clown car is coming for Halloween this year,” said New Jersey Senator Mike Testa.

In the frightening video, Cory Booker pushes the driver. Sue Altman was violently shoved by Booker, who once admitted to groping a high school girl.

The performance, too, was a little over-the-top, with the kind of over-the-top enthusiasm more suited to a high school pep rally than a serious political campaign. It's as if they thought that simply shouting louder would make the message more effective. Unfortunately, it proved far too difficult to connect with younger voters who have probably seen enough politicians clumsily quoting pop culture and failing to seem likeable.

While it's clear that Booker and Altman were aiming to energize their base, the video mostly just underscores how difficult it can be for politicians to strike the right tone on social media. Sometimes serious political discussions do more for a campaign than trying to go viral with a 2004 meme.

  • MAGA protesters give Doug Emhoff a not-so-warm welcome in New Jersey

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ - Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff faced a crowd of protesters Monday while attending a Democratic fundraiser in Bergen County. The protesters, some of whom were identified as supporters of former President Donald Trump, confronted Emhoff with shouts of “traitor” as he arrived at the event.

A bombshell report released last week said Emhoff attacked an ex-girlfriend in a New York nightclub. Neither Emhoff nor the Harris-Walz campaign have responded to the allegations.

Witnesses at the scene reported that protesters questioned Emhoff about an alleged assault on a woman in nearby New York City, although there are no public records of any charges or allegations against him. Emhoff did not respond to the crowd's comments as he entered the venue, and organizers did not comment on the protest.

New Jersey Republican District Committeeman Michael Casey shared videos of the interaction.

The demonstration took place outside a private fundraiser aimed at supporting local Democratic candidates in the upcoming election. According to participants, protesters gathered outside the venue shortly before Emhoff's arrival and dispersed after announcing their presence.

Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, has been an active figure at Democratic events across the country, often speaking at fundraisers and community meetings.

Authorities in Bergen County reported no arrests or incidents of violence related to the protest. The event went as planned without any further disruptions.
