PlayStation chart-toppers: Top PS5 games reveal sad truth

Sony regularly announces which games have been downloaded the most on PlayStation consoles. The current PS5 charts reveal two clear winners.

These are the most successful PS5 games in September

The PlayStation 5 has two new gaming champions. Be at the top of the download charts in September NBA 2K25 in the USA and Canada as well EA Sports FC 25 in Europe.

The download charts clearly show that sports games on the PS5 are very popular. The first place for EA Sports FC 25 in Europe is particularly impressive, as the football simulation was only released on September 27th has appeared. Buyers of the Premium Edition were able to get started on September 20th. Despite criticism: sports games dominate PlayStation 5

Sports games like NBA 2K25 and EA Sports FC 25 are regularly the target of harsh criticism. Among other things, players complain that the gameplay is different hardly distinguishes itself from its predecessorswhich were also published just a year earlier. The many microtransactions also annoy players.

Both games score high on the review aggregator Metacritic solid ratings from critics (to the GIGA test for EA Sports FC 25). The user reviews, on the other hand, are significantly more negative.

The PS5 version of EA Sports FC 25 only reaches here 3.1 out of 10 points (view on Metacritic). NBA 2K25 is up for grabs 6.0 out of 10 points a little better (view on Metacritic). However, negative comments from players do not affect the success of the sports games. The sad truth is that the criticism is always loud, but often has little influence on sales figures.
