The federal government reacted with understanding to the cancellation of US President Joe Biden’s state visit. Biden should actually have met Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin. He also wanted to take part in the Ukraine summit at the US military base in Ramstein in Rhineland-Palatinate this weekend. In view of the threat posed by Hurricane Milton to the US state of Florida, Biden has previously canceled all foreign trips. He hopes that the worst scenario does not occur, but there are fears that “Milton” could become the most devastating hurricane of the last 100 years, said Biden.

Baden-Württemberg honors Mainz coaching legend

Jürgen Klopp actually earned his laurels in Mainz, Dortmund and later in the English league – but the football coach grew up in the Black Forest. The state of Baden-Württemberg shaped him, says Klopp, and so Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann awarded the exceptional coach the State Order of Merit.

After the Federal Order of Merit, it is the second high award for Klopp this month.
