Before the US election, the race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump was close. Polls are now showing a trend that is putting the Democrats under pressure.

Washington, DC – The campaign for the US election is slowly entering the home stretch: in just under four weeks, citizens will be asked to go to the polls and decide who will ultimately move into the White House. The latest US election polls continue to see a close race between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. In individual states, especially in the so-called swing states, the race remains very exciting. The election in the USA in 2024 will be overshadowed by global events: the Ukraine war is casting its shadow into US politics and dividing the camps.

But it wasn’t just Vladimir Putin’s war of aggression in Ukraine that influenced the US election over the years. The situation in the Middle East is more tense than it has been for a long time due to recent developments and Israel’s ground offensive in Lebanon as well as growing tensions between Tel Aviv and Tehran. The US’s political support for Israel could become a problem for Harris. A certain group of voters is increasingly turning away from the Democrats.

New survey on the US election: Harris in trouble among certain groups of voters

Before the US election, little had changed in the initial situation in the United States: Donald Trump continued to compete and continued to insult his opponent. Harris, on the other hand, focuses on thematic priorities during her campaign appearance in order to win over groups of voters. But now the foreign policy line of US policy could be her downfall. “If you’re seeking the highest office in the world, maybe you should listen to the electorate who are supposed to elect you in November,” said Abdullah Hammoud, who governed the Michigan city of Dearborn.

Hammoud’s statement referred to the US stance in the current Israel conflict. There is currently a risk that American support for Israel will cost Kamala Harris the White House, as Arab-American voters could turn away from her. Current surveys on the US election also see this trend. If they want to regain that support among Arab-American voters, Harris and President Biden will have to “show backbone and stand up to Benjamin Netanyahu,” Hammoud continued.

Harris under pressure before US election: Muslims are increasingly turning to Trump – surveys give reasons

Like the British Just writes that American Muslims overwhelmingly voted for Joe Biden four years ago. But in this year’s US election the trend has been reversed. Apparently a large proportion have already prepared to vote for Donald Trump in just under four weeks in protest against current US foreign policy. Kamala Harris is therefore aware of this development. In recent days she has tried to hold talks with Arab and Muslim leaders in Michigan to avert the trend before the US election – but so far without success. Meanwhile, Trump is once again struggling with rumors about his health.

Last August, a US election poll showed that only 12 percent of Muslim voters in Michigan preferred Harris. Trump got 18 percent and 40 percent voted for the Green Party’s Jill Stein. This spoke out clearly in favor of an immediate ban on arms deliveries to Israel. The survey was conducted by the Council on American-Islamic Relations. And according to recent polls, including those conducted by the Arab American Institute, Harris is currently losing out to Trump.

Polls before US election: Close race between Harris and Trump expected

But the truth is also: With his election program and attempted attempts to enter the USA, Donald Trump is also not in the best position with Arab-American voter groups. Therefore, both opponents will try to maintain their favor in the remaining weeks before the US election the voters. Aside from the developments in Michigan, Trump is currently losing out to Harris. How to die New York Times reports, the latest US election poll conducted by Siena College shows that the Democrat has a narrow lead nationally.

The newspaper also notes that the polls ahead of the US election currently show one of the closest races for the White House in modern history. During the survey by Just/Siena shows some clear advantages for Trump, the results suggest that Harris is making increasing progress on issues of trust and change and can convince voters. (fbu)
