Then there is sad certainty. The Greek national soccer player George Baldock is dead. He died at the age of just 31.

Football professional lay dead in the pool

Media reports that the Panathinaikos defender was found dead in the pool at his home late on Wednesday evening. The cause of death was initially unknown. According to police circles, forensic medicine will now clarify why and how he died. His club and the authorities were initially alerted by Baldock’s wife. She lives in England. She tried in vain to reach him by phone. This was reported by Greek Radio (ERT).

Baldock played 12 times for the Greek national team and last appeared in the pre-European Championship playoffs against Georgia in March, when Greece lost on penalties. He was not called up for the upcoming duel with England in the Nations League this Thursday.
