MacBook Pro M4: Continued astonishment about possible leak

The case of the MacBook Pro M4, which may have been leaked in advance, is now enriched by another episode: Now a user is said to have tried to sell such a model on a Russian classifieds platform – for 720,000 rubles, currently just under 6,800 euros. The entry on the eBay-like website Avito.ru can no longer be found, but was spread on social media. The information corresponds to what has been doing the rounds for a long time.

First, the packaging of the yet-to-be-released computer was leaked at the end of September – the sticker on display revealed, among other things, that the basic model supposedly has 16 GB of RAM for the first time – and that there is also the option of configuring it in “Space Black”. A week later, an “unboxing” of this machine was distributed by a Russian YouTuber, and a little later a YouTube short video in which the “About this Mac” screen could also be seen.

So now the offer on the Russian marketplace, in which the packaging, the device itself and other information were also published. The X user who spread the entry also wrote that there appeared to be several offers. Avito allegedly deleted the entries because “non-existent products” are not officially allowed to be sold there.

If the sticker leak, the YouTube videos (which, by the way, are still online) and the Avito offer are really real devices, this would be a massive leak for Apple that has not existed in this form for a long time. The company simply does not experience such “inventory outflows”. In 2010, an iPhone 4 prototype was left in a bar, which then led to advance releases. But nothing similar has happened since then. Although details about hardware often leak out, entire devices simply don’t escape thanks to Apple’s tough security measures.

The computers are likely to come directly from China, where production is currently underway – Apple probably wants to introduce new devices at the end of the month. Other innovations in the MacBook Pro M4 base model include three instead of two Thunderbolt 4 ports, which should then support more screens. According to Geekbench, the MacBook Pro M4 is on par with the iPad Pro M4.
