According to police, 27-year-old Jshawn Simmons was killed in a shooting in Columbus

Columbus police have identified a man killed in a shooting Wednesday afternoon in the city’s northeast area.

The Columbus Police Department’s emergency dispatch center received a call just after 2 p.m. reporting that a person was on the ground after being shot in the 6200 block of Quarter House Drive in the Busch neighborhood on the city’s northeast side, police said.

Columbus Division of Fire paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced 27-year-old Jshawn Simmons dead at 2:11 p.m., the department said in a news release.

On Wednesday evening, officers secured the crime scene and homicide detectives and crime scene technicians searched the area to look for evidence and interview possible witnesses.

Police said they are searching for a man who fled in a dark blue Nissan SUV and may be linked to the fatal shooting.

The fatal shooting marks the city’s 92nd homicide of 2024, according to updated data from Columbus police.
