Editorial on the Mike Rogers-Elissa Slotkin debate and the need to vote

WXYZ DETROIT – The campaign for this year’s important general election day is entering its final phase. November 5thTh is less than a month away and the final push is underway. Voters across America will have to make their decisions soon.

Here in Michigan, one of the most competitive races is the battle for open seats Seat in the US Senate. After more than two decades in office, Senator Debbie Stabenow is retiring. The leading candidates to replace her are current Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin and former Congressman Mike Rogers.

Channel 7 is proud to host final debate in the Michigan U.S. Senate. It will be next Monday, October 14th at 7:00 p.m. Our Chuck Stokes, Carolyn Clifford and Alcia Smith will moderate. The live broadcast will be commercial-free for one hour. Our Scripps TV stations in Grand Rapids and Lansing, as well as a network of TV and radio partners across Michigan, will help us host this national debate.

It will also be the only live head-to-head televised debate between Rogers and Slotkin broadcast over the air from the Detroit metropolitan area. We will also be streaming the debate online at wxyz.com, where you can watch on your preferred mobile device.
