Green Day is re-releasing their most legendary album

Green Day on the GameBoy – there’s stuff!

The term ‘demake’ is well known in gaming. For example, there is the PS1 version of the PS4 classic Bloodborne, which is loved by colleague Chris. But games like Stray are also quite impressive with their fan-designed retro look.

We also know a similar phenomenon in music, for example when well-known songs by our favorite artists travel back through time in alternative versions and new pop songs suddenly become 1920s hits.

The band Green Day has decided on a very special kind of demake, or better yet, demaster. Fans can now only hear their legendary album ‘Dookie’ in new, very special forms.

A singing teddy bear, an answering machine and a doorbell

The funny thing about it: With the reissue, it’s not the songs themselves that are released in a new and special form. Instead, it’s about the respective ‘sound carrier’. Each song is available individually and on its own data carrier.

The international hit “Basket Case,” for example, features a singing fish. “Longview,” on the other hand, you can get on a doorbell. A special highlight for us is of course the song “Welcome to Paradise”, because it comes on a GameBoy cartridge. Of course, to play this you also need the legendary Nintendo console.

There’s a foretaste in the band’s accompanying introduction video:

You can take a closer look at all the gadgets and listen to them on the Demaster version website. If you’re a fan yourself and want to get your hands on a specific song, you can do that there too – but unfortunately only with an address in the USA and good luck.

The respective sound recordings are only available in very small quantities. The GameBoy cartridge, for example, is available 25 times, other items such as the plush teddy that plays ‘Chump’ are only available once.

Whoever finally receives the items will decide on a draw in the next few hours. By the way, winners don’t have to pay absurd prices. Prices range from $19-$99 depending on the item.

By the way, “Dookie” was released in 1994, which explains the selection of some items that now serve as sound recordings – after all, they were very popular and widespread in the 90s.

What do you say about the campaign? Would you also like to have a singing fish that sings ‘Basket Case’ or a toothbrush that makes brushing your teeth sweeter with the sounds of Green Day? Tell us in the comments!
