Princess Kate made a big impact with a little attention. Although the phenomenon is well known, it has been of immense help in terrible times.

Birmingham – The phenomenon is well known. What Princess Kate (42) presents practically sells itself. This was also the case with a pair of earrings that the Princess of Wales wore during a visit to Birmingham on World Mental Health Day 2023. In this case, the choice of jewelry was not only a matter of taste, but also a thoughtful gesture.

Princess Kate carefully uses her status for a good cause

Because there is a story about the pair of gold stars that Prince William’s (42) wife received as a gift on the same day. Brit Sophie McGown runs a jewelry store and released a pair of earrings as a tribute to her niece, Issy McGown.

You already suspect it and it remains deeply sad that Issy was only 17 years old because of her depression. In April 2023 she lost the fight and took her own life. Princess Kate’s brother James Middleton (37) also had a hard time struggling with the illness, but fortunately everything went well for him, but Issy’s family ended in untold sadness. To do something and stop her thinking about nothing, McGown created the Issy earrings – with each sale going five British pounds (just under six euros) to a mental health charity.

Sophie did something else. She gave the earrings to Princess Kate when she visited the rugby field where Issy used to play. Catherine was visiting as part of her own “Shaping Us” campaign. The project highlights the importance of children’s early development. It was a coincidence, but Sophie took advantage of it.

McGown later described to dailymail.com, what happened next. She never expected it, but Princess Kate put the earrings on the same day and took them out of their box again on World Mental Health Day in Birmingham last year. Sophie couldn’t believe it.

The rest is quickly told. Orders went through the roof. “Issy’s mother and Issy’s friends all came and helped us pack. It was just a very special time.” In the end, 15,000 pounds (just under 18,000 euros) were raised for the charity BraveMind. Thanks to Princess Kate, whose brother James Middleton was able to process his experience and rescue in a book. Sources used: gbnews.com, Instagram
