Of course, a big part of this is that “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3” is a hotly anticipated film, especially in India, but also in other parts of the world, and – as the title makes clear – a legendary franchise.

Horror cult series: The “Bhool Bhulaiyaa” franchise

The first part “Bhool Bhulaiyaa”, incidentally the remake of another Indian film from the 90s, was released in 2007 and was a huge success at the box office there. Still, no one thought of a sequel at first. But in India, the horror comedy about a palace seemingly haunted by the ghost of the dancer Manjulika achieved cult status over the years. This is how the sequel “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2” was created in 2022, which you could stream on Netflix in this country. In terms of content, this is only marginally linked to the first film – the spirit of Manjulika plays a role again. But the sequel is also so understandable. With a new cast, similar themes are taken up as in the predecessor.

“Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3“ is now a direct continuation of the second part. Lead actor Kartik Aaryan returns, who finds himself in a new haunted house where two Manjulika ghosts are up to mischief. A special coup: Vidya Balan, who played Manjulika in the very first film, returns.
