Some things in gaming are as certain as amen in church. In addition to the release of “FIFA”, or EA Sports FC, at the end of September, the release of Football Manager in late autumn has also been included for 20 years now.

However, as developer Sports Interactive and publisher SEGA announced a few hours ago, there will be nothing with the new offshoot of the legendary football series in 2024. Rather, the release of Football Manager 25 has been postponed to March 2025.

The reasons for the postponement of FM 25

The developers published why this was a novelty in a blog post yesterday.

The main reason is mentionedthat Sports Interactive will start a new era with the upcoming spin-off and that there simply wasn’t enough time to accomplish that. The self-imposed high standards could not have been achieved with a release in November 2024.

“FM25 is the biggest technical and graphical leap for the series in a generation. We are at a crucial crossroads in the history of Football Manager and we simply cannot compromise on this by rushing the game to release in November.”

In the blog post, Sports Interactive also states what happens next with your pre-order. You can either let it run and get early access before the new release. Or you can request a refund from the retailer.
