Man lured into a date trap and threatened with a gun – police are searching

This was certainly not how a young man in Cologne imagined his date: Instead of Emily, the 21-year-old met two robbers who threatened him with a weapon and robbed him.

The police are searching for two suspected robbers using footage from an ATM. They are said to have robbed a 21-year-old man in Cologne- Zollstock on Sunday, July 21, 2024.

The 21-year-old contacted a person named “Emily Rugerth” via Snapchat and arranged to meet in Cologne. He received the location in the Kendenicher Straße / Kalscheurer Weg area via the messenger service and went there. But instead of Emily, the young man met the two suspects and another unknown man.

The men are said to have threatened him with a gun and a stun gun and demanded that he hand over his fanny pack, including cash and a debit card. They then violently brought the victim to the ground and fled in an unknown direction.

Under the impression of the attack, the victim revealed the PIN number on his debit card. The perpetrators then use this information to make multiple cash withdrawals from different ATMs.
