The safe 65p kitchen staple that eliminates mold in the bathroom

It turns out that salt has more than one purpose besides seasoning your meals.

This widely available item, which costs 65p at Asda, can be used effectively to remove mold but more importantly prevents it from forming again.

While baking soda and white vinegar are excellent household cleaning agents, salt has been proven to be far more effective against mold and is easy to use, natural and affordable.

According to bathroom and kitchen experts PlumbNation, using salt to remove mold in your home is an effective and natural solution when applied to your tiles.

And salt has also been proven to be one of the best ingredients for solving household problems like clogged drains.

To effectively remove mold with salt, you will need sea or table salt, warm water, lemon juice (optional), a soft brush or sponge, and a clean cloth, among other things.

First, you need to mix salt with a small amount of water in a bowl to make a thick paste.

Lemon juice can also be added to this paste as the citrus fruit has natural antibacterial properties, creates a fresh scent and enhances the effectiveness of the mixture.

The paste is then applied generously to the moldy areas on tiles or grout. This should dry completely to aid the absorption process.

Once completely dry, you can gently scrub the dried paste with a soft brush or sponge and remove the mold.

Afterwards, PlumbNation recommends rinsing the area thoroughly with warm water to remove any residue. These can then be wiped off with a clean cloth to prevent new mold from forming in the future.
