Nature experience in the wetlands of Benevento

On the occasion of the EuroBirdwatch 2024, organized as every year by BirdLife International, of which the Lipu is the Italian partner, the local Lipu section in Benevento organized an event last weekend that concerned the protected area “Zone Umide Beneventane”, in the section, Which is crossed by the “Paesaggi sanniti” cycle and footpath created by the province over 15 years ago. The initiative, promoted in collaboration with the Nati per Leggere, whose contact person for the city is Claudia Lamparelli, recorded the participation of many families with their children. The meeting took place at the visitor center of the protected area managed by the Lipu on behalf of the province. In the meeting hall, a biologist, Lipu volunteer explained the characteristics of the birds and their migratory needs to children and their parents using photos and drawings, while other Lipu volunteers distributed information materials provided by the National Lipu Education Department and children’s books showed about nature. Then the excursion began, in which adults and children covered a section of the bicycle and pedestrian path, reaching a path through the vegetation prepared by Lipu volunteers on a provincially managed site to reach the banks of the Calore River. The event led participants to discover a very natural area of ​​the “Zone Umide Beneventane” protected area, created by the province in 2008 but which today falls under the jurisdiction of the Campania Region, long cared for by the Lipu, and To bring adults and children closer to nature and understand that protecting it is important for everyone.
