Economy – Start of the new Melker shopping card

In the spring, the municipality of Melk decided to introduce a new voucher card. This is intended to replace the “Melker Zehner”, which was discontinued some time ago.

The new Melk Card is intended to contribute to the revitalization of the city center. The system, which works similarly to a credit card, is carried out by the company Brainbehind, which has already implemented similar systems in Weiz, Wels and Amstetten.

The card is initially available at the tourist information office, where it can also be loaded with the desired amount of money. In further steps, charging should then also be possible in companies and – in a final step – also online. “The map is intended to strengthen the old town and its businesses,” says ÖVP Mayor Patrick Strobl.
