Major police operation at Hansaplatz in Hamburg! 94 controls

Hamburg – Large array of police and employees of the district office at the much-visited Hansaplatz in St. George! Yesterday Friday evening, 52 police officers checked a total of 94 people during a special operation from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

As a spokesman for the police situation center told TAG24, 79 checks were carried out in connection with violent crimes.

According to police, one person was temporarily arrested and four people were taken into custody. The emergency services also issued 16 short-term restrictions and 18 long-term bans.

“Hansaplatz with its adjacent dining options is a popular meeting place for both residents of the district and tourists. At the same time it is with its central location […] a place of residence for people in precarious living situations,” said the interior authority. In order to make the area near the main train station safer again, such operations should be carried out more frequently in the future, it was said.

“With a more visible presence through uniformed guards, increased patrols in the area between the main train station and Hansaplatz and the intensification of our priority operations, we want to noticeably improve the feeling of security of the people on site,” said Police Chief Falk Schnabel (55).
