The new iPhone SE 4 case leak shows three things to expect

Apple leaker Sonny Dickson has posted an apparent image of a case designed for the upcoming iPhone SE 4, which is expected to launch next spring. While the images don’t show any groundbreaking new details, they do highlight a few things we should expect from the iPhone SE.

Single rear camera

Although the iPhone SE 4 is expected to be based on the iPhone 14’s design, it doesn’t have the same dual camera setup as the iPhone 14. That means there won’t be an ultra-wide camera, although the iPhone SE is expected to still feature a 48MP main sensor, the same as the iPhone 15.

So even if you don’t have two physical rear camera sensors, you still have two focal lengths available: 1x (which uses the 48MP sensor and reduces it to 12MP) and 2x, which is the middle 12MP of the 48MP Sensors zoom sensor, which, according to Apple, delivers optical quality.

Physical mute switch

Although previous iPhone SE rumors suggested the device would feature an action button, more recent leaks (such as this case leak) don’t seem to suggest this. There’s still a cutout for the mute switch in the top left and no other button like cases for the iPhone 15 Pro and later.

No camera control button

No leaks suggest that Apple’s cheapest iPhone would feature the new camera control slider/button introduced in the iPhone 16 lineup, and these cases suggest the same. There’s no opening in the bottom right side of the case, nor is there a cutout for a potentially conductive crystal button like Apple’s cases.

Wrap up

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone SE 4 next spring for around $500. The upcoming iPhone will likely feature a new 6.1-inch OLED display, USB-C, a new 48MP camera, Face ID and more.
