Spain shooting star Samu Omorodion looks back

In Portugal, everyone is talking about Samu. The striker, who moved to the Portuguese giants from Atletico Madrid last summer for a fee of 15 million euros (Atletico still retains half of the transfer rights), has scored as many goals in seven games for Porto across all competitions.

Chelsea FC also wanted to benefit from this accuracy. The Londoners competed fiercely for Samu in August, but were unable to come to an agreement with his ex-employer Atletico Madrid. Samu stood between the chairs. “It was a very difficult summer,” says the 20-year-old, looking back on the transfer summer, according to the AS newspaper. “I went through a very difficult time.”

The center forward, who was born in Melilla on the North African Mediterranean coast, is no longer bothered by the fact that the move to Stamford Bridge ultimately didn’t work out. “Everyone knows I was close to signing, but it didn’t happen for one reason: God didn’t want it,” says Samu.

The Spaniard is “very grateful to his new employer for giving me a chance when the situation was difficult for me.” He is very happy and content in Porto and has left the past behind him: “I am concentrating on the present and the future.”

Next games for Samu and FC Porto

For Samu and Porto, things continue in the national cup competition Taça de Portugal after the international break: In the third round, Porto will play against outsiders Sport Uniao Sintrense.

In the Portuguese league, coach Vítor Bruno’s team continues on October 28th with an away game at AVS Futebol SAD. Porto is currently in second place, three points behind league leaders Sporting.

Before things get serious in the league, the home game against Hoffenheim (October 24th) is scheduled for the third matchday of the Europa League.
