Shooting in Linton Road, Barking: Murder investigation launched

Police were called just after 4.30am this morning (October 13) to reports of an injured man on Linton Road.

At the scene, officers and paramedics found a man, believed to be in his 30s, suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. The man’s next of kin have been informed.

There remains a crime scene on Linton Road and police inquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Acting Detective Chief Superintendent Lewis Basford, who is responsible for policing in Barking, said: “I understand the shock and concern that local residents will be feeling following this incident, but I would like to reassure them that a team of experienced detectives are already hard at work is working on it.” Reconstruct the events leading up to this shooting and determine who is responsible.

“Residents will experience increased police activity in and around the Linton Road area and I would ask for their patience while officers carry out vital work.
