Big Pokémon leak: Game Freak confirms loss of employee data

Game Freak confirmed a massive data loss. It can happen that quickly. You type and publish a message and there is an update.

Thousands of confidential Pokémon-related documents have been posted online. Over 2,000 employee data were also affected by the leak. This includes full names, email addresses and telephone numbers.

According to VGC, Game Freak stated that there was “unauthorized access by a third party.” Game Freak does not go into further detail about the content of Pokémon that are said to be affected by the leak. The company only mentions that content related to the company and the franchise is also part of the stolen data.

According to Game Freak, the security hole that made the hack possible has already been closed.

Pokémon developer Game Freak was hacked and a lot of data is now said to have been leaked. This even includes details about some upcoming Pokémon games and the Switch 2, which are now circulating on the Internet. The source code for some older titles in the franchise has also reportedly been leaked. This is assumed to be a phishing attack.

Gigantic leak reveals details about upcoming Pokémon games

Nintendo Everything reports on the gigantic leak. Accordingly, the source codes for Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver as well as Black and White 2 are said to have appeared online and some code names for upcoming games are also said to be part of the massive leak. How SwitchTools on X writes, the leak is said to involve a data volume of 1 TB.

The new generation of Pokémon will be called “Gaia” there. The tenth generation versions are reportedly called “K” and “N”. According to the leak, it could well be that the next Pokémon title will be developed for the Switch 2. The Switch 2 is also referred to with a code name in the leak. However, a release on the Switch is not ruled out.

There is also some information in the leak about Pokémon Legends: ZA. Internally the game is said to be known as “Ikkaku” and is already fully developed. The game was officially announced at the beginning of February and a first trailer has already been published. It is now clear that Legends: ZA is set in Luminose City and will be released “for Nintendo Switch systems” next year. An interesting expression for anyone waiting for an announcement of the next Switch console.

A multiplayer Pokémon title is said to be codenamed “Synapse” and, according to the leak, was developed together by Game Freak and developer ILCA.

It is difficult to say at this point whether the previous reports about the leak are true. Nintendo and Game Freak have not yet released a statement on this and the actual leaks cannot be viewed in full. But there are already more and more articles from reputable sources about the extent and alleged content of the leaked data.

You shouldn’t forget that this leak is about a crime acts. That’s why you won’t find any pictures, videos or links to the illegal leaks here. A motive for the hacker attack is not yet known. Likewise, no one can yet say whether employees’ private data is part of the alleged leak. Either way, the consequences for the hackers are likely to be gigantic if they are caught.
