Kehl “What women want …”: Theater in Goldscheuer News from Ortenau

The play “What Women Want and Men Don’t Think They Know” by Theaterwelt Goldscheuer was a barrage of punchlines and gags.

Are all men macho or mama’s boys? Maybe it’s more about your figure, clothing or glasses? Franziska asks herself these and similar questions as she waits for her date in a café. She had her wedding to Gotthilf-Peter arranged and fled from the registry office in a panic. Now she continues to search for her dream man – a man who really knows what women want.

After another unsuccessful rendezvous with macho Rüdiger, who pretends to be the ultimate womanizer but fails in the end, Franziska reviews all of her “men’s stories” again. You’ll find out why she just can’t find the man of her dreams. So far, no result of their efforts has produced what they wanted: a long-term, committed relationship.

Her ex-boyfriend Lorenz, whom she met again by chance at an art exhibition, doesn’t take marital fidelity that seriously, and her internet chat “Tiger” boasts that he is the center of attention at every party, but only tells her bad things jokes. Well, you should never let your mother persuade you to go on a date arranged by her. What your mother means by a “nice, young man” has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with what you imagine it to be. It’s like ordering lobster, caviar and champagne and getting currywurst with fries and a portion of beer – and like mother’s boy Dieter, the mother-in-law gets it for free.

After a bizarre nightmare in which the shrill TV presenter Piet asks his assistant to bring the bed here, it’s time for Franziska to think about what she really wants in a man.

The entire piece, “What Women Really Want and Men Think They Know,” was a barrage of punchlines, gags and hilarious dialogues that reminded the audience of many a real-life phenomenon.

Maike Blaszkiewiez, who played a role for the first time that evening, knew how to hold her own in the never-ending battle of the sexes. Horst Kiss set the appropriate accents with the different depicted date partners. The funny scenes, which don’t just poke fun at men, hit the right nerve with the audience. In the end, the question remains unanswered: Will the last can of corn from the supermarket shelf give Franziska the man of her dreams for life?

At the end, the two actors were rightly celebrated for their successful production with shouts of bravo and long-lasting applause.
