3,000 euros tax-free from the boss: This option only applies until the end of the year

According to a survey by the Ifo Institute, 42 percent of companies want to pay a premium, 14 percent do not, and 44 percent are still undecided. “Employees in industry and large companies in particular could benefit from this tax-free bonus,” said Ifo expert Johanna Garnitz. In retail, however, only a third would consider a bonus – an average of 1,500 euros.

The 4.5 million employees in the metal and electrical industries and the chemical and pharmaceutical industries will receive 3,000 euros net in two tranches in 2023 and 2024 – in addition to wage increases. This is what unions and employers have agreed in the new collective agreements for the sectors.
