Winter semester started in Munich: cake and new courses of study tempt you!

The winter semester 2023/2024 has begun in Munich and is attracting students to the canteens and cafés with vegan chocolate cake. But be careful: If you arrive late, you will be left empty-handed, as the number of pieces is limited! At large universities such as the Ludwig Maximilians University (LMU) and the Technical University (TU), students are streaming back into lectures. LMU has recorded 54,522 enrollments to date, an increase of almost 2,000 compared to the previous year. Over 20 percent of students are now international specialists, and the TU leads with an international share of 45 percent – the highest in Germany.

In total, Munich’s universities have more than 150,000 students and the semester is in full swing. New courses, including three English-language masters at the TU, are intended to further promote internationalization. In addition, the new center for research into social inequality was founded at LMU, which deals with one of the most pressing social issues. In addition, the federal government’s study start aid was introduced, which offers financial support for students in need. Further information can be found on the Student Union website.
