Nick Kyrgios plans comeback: “silence” critics

Nick Kyrgios still has a lot to do in his tennis career. The Australian is aiming for a Grand Slam title and is paying particular attention to his critics.

Tennis professional Nick Kyrgios is apparently on the verge of a comeback after a long break. As the 2022 Wimbledon finalist has announced, he will play at a show event in Abu Dhabi in December and then also play the Australian Open in January.

The Australian, once number 13 in the world and recently out for a long time due to knee, foot and wrist problems, says he will “silence” his critics and win a Grand Slam title.

“I’ve beaten almost everyone I’ve faced,” Kyrgios told the “Code Sports” portal and then listed the success of his career so far: “But I think the only thing I’m aiming for now is a Grand Slam. I think that’s the only thing that will finally shut people up.

Kyrgios didn’t play any tournaments in 2024, and only played one match in Stuttgart last year.

At the beginning of his career, the strong-serving professional managed primarily with outbursts of anger and discussions, while his matches had a dubious reputation, which he improved with his sporting successes. The 29-year-old also recently worked as an interviewer – including at the US Open. Now he will be back on the pitch.
