WhatsApp introduces a new button: videos become more attractive for selected users

The WhatsApp messenger service is continuously working on new functions that are intended to improve your user experience. This also includes features that can save you time, such as the ability to adjust the playback speed of voice messages.

As the fan blog WABetainfo reports, WhatsApp is currently rolling out similar options for videos that are sent and viewed via the app – but initially only for users of the iOS app, including those with Apple iPhones. The fan blog discovered this and another new feature in WhatsApp version 24.20.78 for iOS.

Watch videos at 1.5x or 2x speed and continue watching

In the future, it should be possible to watch videos on WhatsApp at 1.5x or twice the speed. This can save you a lot of time, especially with long videos and if only certain parts are of interest to you.

According to the official changelog, a picture-in-picture feature will also be rolled out at the same time. This means that the video is displayed – presumably in the lower right part of the screen – and no longer only has to run in full screen mode. According to WABetainfo, it should then be possible to continue watching videos while you switch to other chats or apps. To switch to Picture-in-Picture mode, you will receive a button near the new playback bar.

The features are currently being distributed

The faster video playback feature should be available to all iPhone users within the next few weeks, provided they have the latest WhatsApp update installed. However, for technical reasons, Picture-in-Picture mode can only be provided for models with iOS 14 or later.
