Toni Nadal criticizes new timing rules in tennis

Toni Nadal, the uncle of legendary Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal, has sharply criticized the new timing rules. Tennis, like other sports, is in a transition period and new rules are being introduced to make the sport more attractive to fans and shorten the length of matches so that viewership continues to increase.
Among the rules to be introduced in the near future is the introduction of electronic line calling from next year. Another rule set to change in the near future is the automatic shot clock rule, meaning a player only has a limited amount of time to serve after the point is completed. According to the new rules, the countdown for the serve begins exactly three seconds after the end of the point. The rule was criticized by some of the current players, including Novak Djokovic of Serbia.

Toni, the uncle of former world number one Nadal, recently expressed criticism of the new rules in an interview with Marca. Nadal’s former coach was of the opinion that no sport starts with a penalty, making the three-second clock a “stupid” move, and also explained that the new rules make the sport even tougher, which is what is important for the sport can be catastrophic in the future.

“I’ve been saying for years that the rules need to be changed,” Toni told Marca. “There is no sport that starts with a penalty. That’s a bit idiotic. The rest is the goalkeeper’s position and I told Rafa to go to one side to see if he can hit the target.” Tennis is worse today because of the speed at which it is played as the ball is faster, the movements are more abrupt, and sooner or later you will make a movement that will lead to a serious problem.
